
Herring tradition since 1594
For generation after generation, we here on the island have developed herring into a pickled delicacy. Now, we remaining families have united under the Klädesholmen brand.
Herring
Local support is a matter of the heart for us. That’s why we like to buy our raw materials from the herring trawlers in western Sweden. Most of the larger herring is caught from the rich stocks in the Norwegian Sea. No herring is caught in the Baltic Sea. In the autumn, when the herring is at its best, it is seasoned or marinated and stored in herring barrels.
Caviar & Pate
Our fine, smoked caviar in a tube – has received very positive reviews and was recently named the best by the GöteborgsPosten test panel. Klädesholmen’s caviar is a tasty accompaniment in many contexts, for example on an egg & caviar sandwich. A tasty and sustainable product that is a must in every refrigerator, at home, on the lake or in a picnic basket.
Seaweed caviar
Our seaweed caviar is an imitation of rockfish roe, made from seaweed. It is used to advantage in both hot and cold dishes as an ingredient and decoration. The natural dyes in the product do not fade and are therefore well suited as a garnish on, for example, sandwich cakes and in salads.

Already in the sixteenth century, Klädesholmen was a well-known fishing village outside Tjörn.
The place’s strong connection to herring has been evident for many hundreds of years and we proudly carry it forward.
